You have reached the website of Alex Madalis. I was born in 1951. I grew up in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania.

I attended Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School in Shamokin, PA, graduating in 1969. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Francis College now University of Loretto, PA in 1973. I received a Masters of Education degree in Secondary Counseling from Shippensburg University, PA in 1979.

While attending Lourdes High School I played a year of junior varsity basketball on a team that was league co-champions.During my senior year  I received a a scholastic gold key award for a watercolor painting titled "Steppingways."  At Saint Francis I ran cross country and was named "Most Improved Harrier" for the 1970 season. I ran the Boston Marathon in 1977 finishing 1440th in a time of 3:13:38 and again in 1980 finishing 1060th in a time of 2:52:52. Also in 1980 I completed the New York City Marathon finishing 434th in a time of 2:44:43.

I taught at Central Christian High School in DuBois, PA from 1973 until 1981. During that time I coached the 1980-81 girls basketball team to a PIAA District IX Class "A" District Championship. I was also an assistant coach on the 1976-77 boys varsity basketball team that captured the District IX Championship and went on to finish 3rd in the state of Pennsylvania. I began my school counseling career in 1981 at Mount Carmel Area High School, PA. While at MCA I coached boys varsity for four years. I went on to coach varsity cross country at Mt. Carmel Area where the girls team won district championships in 1985 and again in 1988. For the next 20 years I was employed by the Brockway Area School District as a counselor. During that time I helped to form a Student Assistance Team and served as the district's transition coordinator.

Now retired I use my time to read, listen to music, go on cruises, play a little blackjack at the casinos, visit California, go trout fishing, attend Pittsburgh Pirate baseball games, evaluate basketball officials during the playoffs, and watch Steelers football and Pitt Panther mens basketball.
